Metabolic Balance ® is a nutritional programme for weight management and well-being. It is the accumulation of 25 years of academic research and development by doctors and nutritionists. Sue is a qualified Metabolic Balance ® Coach.
You will receive an individualised nutrition plan based on 35 laboratory values from a comprehensive blood panel. These values establish the correct parameters for the proper metabolic and hormonal function for your unique biochemistry. The Metabolic Balance ® food plan controls blood sugar with a 5 hour gap between the 3 meals a day in order to control blood glucose and appetite; this helps to optimise insulin and cortisol, two of the most important hormones linked with weight management and well-being. The plan includes no processed shakes, synthetic powders or pills; it is all based on real food in the right combinations and ratios. Metabolic Balance ® is not a short term reduced calorie diet, but a sustainable, optimal eating plan for life.
The programme is an empowering, educative 4-step plan over 3 months involving 7 nutritional consultations to monitor and support you.
Phase 1 of the programme consists of a gentle cleansing phase that lasts just two days. The digestive system is cleansed and primed and you eat from a light menu for two days.
Phase 2 is the ‘back bone’ of the programme. During this time, you are restricted to the foods on your customised list while the metabolism is trained for peak performance and hormonal balance. Phase 2 lasts for 14 days and is a balanced programme of weighed foods including proteins, starches, fruit and vegetables. It is important to note that this is not a calorie counting, point counting or fasting/deprivation diet. It is essentially a nutrition programme designed to re-train and re-educate you into eating and embracing natural whole foods that are right for increasing enzymes and balancing hormones, resulting in a healthy weight adjustment.
Phase 3 starts after 14 days, when you progress to an expanded food list, and healthy oils are re-introduced into the diet. Phase 3 also allows one deviation or “cheat” meal per week to lend some additional variety and flexibility to the programme; however, this is also an integral part of the re-programming of the metabolism. You stay on Phase 3 until you have reached your goal weight, so the length of Phase 3 is dependent on how much you intend to lose or gain for that matter.
Phase 4 is the maintenance phase where you take the programme from a “diet” to a “lifestyle”. You are encouraged to reintroduce and experiment with foods that have been restricted up until now. By following a few simple rules and monitoring your weight, you learn how to take metabolic balance to a new level. The aim is to achieve a new sense of well-being.
The changes in your daily diet can increase your general well-being of both body and mind. It can lead to a healthier, more vibrant appearance and can improve physical and mental performance, as well as emotional balance. Feelings of improved strength and clarity of mind, as well as increased energy and vitality may be noticeable in just a few days.
